The role of stolon in water communication between parent and daughter plants in strawberry

Abstract (EN)

In this study, after two successive ramets were left on a stolon of the strawberry mother plant, the ramets were rooted and irrigation studies were carried out without breaking the stolons between the plants. Three types plants to be used in the experiment, connected to each other by stolon bond; They are named as mother, older sister and sister plants. After the rooted ramets formed 5-6 leaves, irrigation applications were started. In the experiment, the effects of irrigation methods; 1-Control (Equal irrigation)(Mother(33%)+Sister(33%)+Sister(33%) 2- Mother(80%)+Sister(10%)+Sister (10%), 3-Mother(10%)+Sister(80%)+Sister (10%), 4-Mother(10%)+Sister(10%)+Sister(80%) ] on some plant properties were evaluated. In each irrigation application, the number of plants remaining alive at the end of the experiment, the number of leaves remaining in living plants, the total leaf area of living leaves, the color values on the leaves (L,a,b) and chlorophyll contents of leaves, the number of old leaves picked until the end of the experiment, the stem thickness of the plants, the number of stems, the number of roots and root weights were measured and the results were analyzed. Duncan multiple test was applied in the evaluation of the data In general, while the highest number of live plants and live leaves on the plant were found in plant types with equal irrigation, it was determined that the number of leaves alive in plant types in other irrigation applications decreased. Again, regardless of the type of plant that was irrigated, it was observed that the number of surviving plants and leaves in the irrigated plant type was higher than the other plant types.
