Trade unionism in the People's Republic of China

The trade union organization is a product of the labor movement or a product of the contradiction between the labor and the capital. It is produced in the process of safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of workers, it exists for the purpose of representing and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of workers. With the gradual increase in the power of trade union organizations, an increasingly important role in the process of state and government governance of society has been played. It is not only an indispensable method to resolve labor-management contradictions, but also an important stabilizing factor for the country and society. Therefore, most countries in the world –including China- have given high attention and support to the existence and the development of this organization. China is a socialist country, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The development path of China's trade union organizations has a timelessly distinctive brand and also has Chinese characteristics. Based on the existing literature, this article systematically sorts out the history of the birth and development of China's trade unions and analyzes the status quo of the development of China's trade unions. Although judging from the status quo of the work of the Chinese trade unions, the Chinese trade unions still need to carry out reforms. This article is composed of five parts. The introduction part mainly introduces the research's purpose, significance and research methods that had been used. The first chapter mainly introduces the trade union organization in a brief way; including the definition, generation and development of trade union organizations, trade union's theory and the functions of trade unions. The second chapter takes the founding of the People's Republic of China and the reform and opening up as the demarcation point, and introduces the background and development history of the Chinese trade union organization. The third chapter mainly introduces the Chinese trade union organization, including organizational principles, functions, organizational structure, work status and existing problems. The concluding remarks mainly evaluate the Chinese trade unions based on their development.
