Successors of the Tabgachs according to Chinese Sources (Eastern Wei, Western Wei, Northern Qi, Northern Zhou, 534-581)

The Xianbei, who put an end to the Northern Wei Dynasty (Tabgachs) in 534, founded the Eastern Wei Dynasty in north-eastern China and the Western Wei Dynasty in northern China in 535. However, they could not survive for a very long time due to many reasons such as the constant struggles between those dynasties, their inexperience in the administrative and military structure, and the fights for the throne. In 550, the Northern Qi Dynasty was established instead of the Eastern Wei Dynasty, and in 557, the Northern Zhou Dynasty was established instead of the Western Wei Dynasty. These dynasties were destroyed by Yang Jian in 581 and the Sui Dynasty was established. The aim of this research is to examine the geography of the mentioned dynasties, their political history, administrative, military and economic structures, culture and relations with the Göktürks chronologically as a whole. This research, in which a qualitative approach was preferred, was designed as an original historical research based on primary sources. The research data was used using the document analysis technique, and different data sources that provide data diversity, including numerous Chinese annals that contain information about the periods when the Xianbei first emerged, their political history between 534-581, and their situation after 581. Based on the data analyzed by content analysis, important information about the political history and culture of the dynasties was revealed.
