Space in Cinânî's prose stories

Cinani is one of the most important literary figures of the 16th century Turkish literature. In classical Turkish literature, which is largely shaped by poetry, he is among the important figures in addition to his poetry. Cinânî, who combines his mischievous character with his unique style, shows his mastery in prose in Bedâyiü'l-Âsâr. Cinânî, who reveals thelife in the 16th century to the researchersin Bedâyiü'l-Âsâr, catches up with modern stories in terms of fiction and character development in some of his stories written 250 years ago. Bedâyiü'l-Âsâr, which contains a total of 99 narratives set in geographies such as India and Iran, as well as important centers within the borders ofthe Ottoman Empire of that period, is a rich literary work to be analyzed in terms of setting. In this study, the settings that Cinânî used in his stories were analyzed in detail. While doing this, setting analysis methods in modern stories were used. Settings were divided into two: environmental and perceptual settings. Detailed information about each settingwas givenin detail under these headings. As for the settings that were dealt with perceptually, the relationship between the setting and characterwas emphasized.The stories analyzed in terms of setting show that the perspective given on the plot and settingin the classical story is not as superficial as it is thought. Despite not being in all the stories in the collection, it is seen that the setting is dealt within some narratives just as realistically as in the modern examples. Cinânî deals with the setting as an element that directs the behavior of the protagonists. In Bedâyiü'l-Âsâr, the important cities of the 16th century Ottoman geography are revealed in every aspect with people from different classesin Cinani's stories.
