Analysis of art conception in the context of genus–species relation

This study is a research on the art conception in the context of genus–species relation. The research problem can be expressed as "what is the close genus of art?" and "what is the specific difference of art?" By solving these problems it is thought that necessary and sufficient conditions have been obtained to describe the art. The method of research is based on the classification of concept in the context of genus–species relation. Classification of concepts by the genus–species relation is based on basic logic principles. Genus is an upper concept to species and is defined as a general concept that includes concepts with common characteristics. Species is defined as the concept which is listed under genus and inherently belongs to genus. The second part of the research is about the genus of art. In this part, the art's genus is defected as the "cognitive activity". Other species belonging to this genus are accepted as science and philosophy. The reason for the classification of art as a species of "cognitive activity" is based on the assumption that it is a conceptual activity. This assumption is based on the Conceptual Art. Art is intellectual activity in the context of Conceptual Art. For this reason, art is thought to represent an understanding of the universe. When art is classified as a kind of "cognitive activity", it can be define according to the genus–species relation as like: art is a cognitive activity. When art is defined as a species of cognitive activity, it becomes a valid condition for all art activities. In the context of this condition, in order for any activity to be regarded as an art activity, it must be a cognitive activity. At this point, the artist is most often referred to as the person performing the cognitive activity. The art object is regarded as the object is matched with artist activity. In other words, the art object is a document of the art activity performed by the artist. The cognitive activity is an intellectual activity that results in a conclusion, in other words, a result of universal knowledge. The concept corresponds to function relations that determine the truth value of the object that will fall underneath. The third part of the research is aimed at determining the specific difference of art. In order to be precisely what kind of cognitive activity art is, it is necessary to determine how it separates from the other species listed under its genus, in other words, from science and philosophy. According to Conceptual Art, art activity is a analytical activity. In this context, art is regarded as a tautological activity to understand its own structure. Then the specific separate of art can be defined as an attribute to the concept of its own conditions. In other words, art can be shaped as a cognitive activity towards self-analysis. In the final analysis, art can be described as follows according to the genus–species relation: art is a cognitive activity to understand its own conditions.
