Examination of the effectiveness of the cise distalization appliance

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to evaluate in vitro the effectiveness of a new distalization appliance with a skeletal anchorage unit and two Ni-Ti open coil springs applied to the upper molar tube. 11 study models were obtained for the placement of the appliance. Cise distalization appliance was placed unilaterally on 7 of these models, and on 4 of these models bilaterally. A total of 15 Cise distalization appliances were evaluated. The appliance containing two Ni-Ti open coil springs called the first spring and the second spring are placed in two mini screws and molar tube. The forces produced by the appliance were measured with the help of strain gauge placed on molar tubes. The effectiveness of the appliance was evaluated according to the force values of the first spring and/or the second spring 3 mm, 6 mm, 9 mm and its full activation. The amount of force generated by the appliance varied according to the activation of the springs. No statistically significant difference was found in the majority of the force values produced by the first spring and the second spring at equal activations (p<0.05). With the joint activation of both springs, higher force values were obtained compared to the same activation of a single spring. These differences were found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). The appliance can provide up to 960 grams of force on one side. As a result of this study, it has been proven in vitro that the force required for the distalization of the upper molar teeth can be provided by the appliance presented. This study will be a guide for clinical studies.
