Abstract (EN)

Cistaceae (ladengiller) family is a family consisting of 180 species in total, 8 genera, which are distributed in the Mediterranean climate, especially in the northern hemisphere, as the temperate zone. The most important member of the genus Cistus L. 5 is represented by 21 species in the world and in Turkey. Cistus L. species are generally known in our country with names such as "blackberry, cotton bush, and laden".Cistus species are used among the public, especially in infertility, high fever, ulcers, skin diseases, rheumatism, urinary tract diseases, antidiabetic and anti-inflammatory.This study includes the evaluation of Cistus creticus and Cistus laurifolius plants in terms of antioxidant, antiulcer and anticarcinogenic. The data obtained in this study is aimed to enlighten the medicinal properties of Cistus creticus and Cistus laurifolius plants. The Folin-Ciocalteu method was used to determine the total amount of phenolic matter in Cistus creticus and Cistus laurifolius plants. The phenolic content of the liquid extracts of the above- ground parts of the plants is between 3.9% and 22.4%. The total flavonoid content was determined by the aluminum chloride colorimetric method. The flavonoid content of the liquid extracts of the above-ground parts of the plants was determined as 0.3% to 14.6%. Antioxidant capacity was determined using the DPPH method. In line with the results obtained, information was given about the preparations that Cistus creticus and Cistus laurifolius plants can be used as a pioneering raw material in the pharmaceutical industry, taking into account their use among the public, and their use in Europe, which is not in our country. In this study, the antioxidant properties of Cistus creticus and Cistus laurifolius plants were mentioned, and their high radical scavenging activity and anti-inflammatory activity were mentioned. Since C.creticus and C.laurifolius plants grow naturally in our country, their value in terms of herbal-based pharmaceutical raw materials has been emphasized. These two species, which show a wide range and grow naturally, can be considered potentially a resource for obtaining drug candidate molecules due to their rich phenolic content.
