Hegel ve Spinoza'da yurttaşlık ve özgürlük: Pro Patria Mori kavramının eleştirisi

The definition of citizenship in different forms of government provides a framework for the perception of freedom. The fact that Hegel is in favor of constitutional monarchy, and Spinoza of democracy is an indicator that their definitions of citizenship differs. On the one hand, in Hegel, the citizen is limited to being a part of political state, a higher reality than individuals. On the other hand, in Spinoza, state is nothing but a product of the effort of citizens to persevere in their being. This thesis aims at analyzing and discussing different points of view of these philosophers about sacrificing one's life for the country and the right to live, based on their ontological systems and political philosophies.
