City and civilization in the poems of Arıf Nıhat Asya

The aim of this study is to examine the concepts related to the ctiy and civilization reflected in the poems of Arif Nihat Asya. Arif Nihat Asya lived between 1904-1975. The poetry he wrote during the transition period from the republican era to the end of one party political life became an important literaty writer of his era with his ideas and rubais. Arif Nihat Asya was awarded the title of Frag Poet with the poem of Frag, which was known for his nationalist poetry and was written for Adana's liberation day on January 5th. The poet, who started his poetry life with aruz, wrote poems with rubai and gazel styles. Especially, rubai verse form is very important for his poet. Rubai has five boks written in verse form. Arif Nihat Asya has an importat influence on the poetry that our nation was born at a time when it was shaken by deep seted crisis, that our nation was struggling to exist during the first youth years, and that the poet was in Anatolia during the national struggle. He is one of the people who liced in a transition period when a culture was destroyed and a culture was tried to be established and was exposed to their influence. He spent his life in different cities such as Istanbul, Konya, Bolu, Adana, Edirne and Kastamonu which they gave the poet a profound observation power. He is known with his nationalist poems that included homeland beauties, flag, homeland, nation, history, religion, love, and natural beauty poems were the main themes. The poet, who sometimes adopts a critical expression in his poems, is always known for his poems, which glorify Turkishness. It is known that Arif Nihat Asya turned mysticism and wrote mystical poems towards to the end of his life. The poet, who is constantly in search of innovation in his poems, has created a unique and colorful world of poetry that is free from external factors. Besides their beatiful and elegant metaphors, their sharp intelligence, humor, satirical, which are the products of humorist humor, are important elements that complement the sty le of poetry.
