Özet (EN)

The study area located in the eastern part of Usak Neogene basins between Civril (Denizli) and Karahallı (Uşak) in Western Anatolia. The majority of the bedrock in the area is composed of metamorphic rocks of the Menderes Massif. The bedrock formed from marble, phyllite, quartz-schist and sleyt shows spread the west, south and east of the basin. Karahallı Neogene basin sediments consist of fluvial and lacustrine sediments from the bottom to the top. In the lower section of Neogene sequence, fluvial sediments are made up of poorly consolidated cross-layer terrestrial sandstone, conglomerate, siltstone and mudstone. The lacustrine sediments filling the basin are composed of calcareous mudstone, and marl and travertine. Karahallı-Çivril Neogene basin is limited to fault from the east and southeast. The travertines located at the uppermost part of the lacustrine deposit, which is widely distributed within the basin, are becoming increasingly thicker towards the Gürpinar fault east of the basin, together with other lacustrine and fluvial units. Ten deep core drillings were carried out by the Turkish Coal Enterprise in the field. The depth of the cores varies between 670 m and 342 m. Thin coal seams in several levels of drilling carried out in the basin are cut. Dolomite, calcite, anhydrite, and gypsum with feldspar, quartz, smectite, illite and kaolinite were determined by XRD. Al2O3 and SiO2 contents are generally elevated in clayey levels. Ca2+ ions are the main constituents of carbonate rocks. The contents of REE and some trace elements (V, Sc, Cr, Co, As, Ba, Rb, Th ) were determined in richer samples than in carbonates.
