Effectiveness of post emergent herbicide and fertilizer application against weeds species in corn (Zea mays L.) cultivation areas

In study, it is aimed to investigate the effect of herbicides on weeds as a result of their interaction with the fertilizer mixture by using chemical control method, which is among the control methods used in weed control in corn sowing area. In the study, Dimethenamid-p+Terbuthylazine and Isoxaflutole+Thiencarbazone-methyl+Cyprosulfamide (safener) herbicides were applied after emergence as recommended dose, recommended dose+urea and amino acid, half dose+urea and amino acid addition on corn plant. The trial was carry out in the Black Sea Agricultural Research Institute application area of Samsun province. The trial was carried out in 4 replications according to the "random blocks trial design" on 14 m2 parcels with 15 rows and 70 cm between rows. In the trial area, 12 weed species were detected and Convolvulus arvensis L.,Chenopodium album L. and Abutilon theophrastii Medik. took place in the first 3 places. After the study green planting yield in corn was the highest in Isoxaflutole+Thiencarbazone-methyl+Cyprosulfamide (safener)+Urea application, again this application also showed the highest effect on weeds. After the application of Isoxaflutole+Thiencarbazone-methyl+Cyprosulfamide (safener)+Urea in field conditions, a very small amount of blight was observed on the leaves in places. No herbicide damage was observed in Dimethenamid-p+Terbuthylazine+Urea application. Half dose herbicide+fertilizer mixtures showed herbicidal effect close to the recommended dose+fertilizer mixture. Nowadays, mixing herbicide plant nutrition products is practiced by the producers, and such mixtures are strictly aggrieve recommended without being based on scientific studies. If such applications have a scientific basis, both herbicide will be appropriate and the cost of applying two times separately will be rid of. In this study, which is a one-year study, the recommended dose of half-dose herbicide and fertilizer mixture on weeds showed close effect to the mixture of herbicide and fertilizer, and more detailed studies are needed. We wish it to be an example for those who will work corcerning this issue.
