Özet (EN)

The aim of this study; to form hydroxyapatite (HAP) coatings on CoCrMo alloys by electrochemical method and increase fixation and acceptation of implant by bone and body.Metallic materials have found wide application as biomaterials for manufacturing orthopedic prostheses. Most dental and orthopedic implants are made of mechanically strong and bioinert metallic alloys such as titanium alloys, cobalt-chromium alloys and austenitic stainless steels. They are widely used due to their high strength, good biocompatibility and corrosion durability. Although metals are biotolerable, they do not adhere to bone tissues and these materials are not bioactive and need to be fixed to bone by mechanical interlocking. Because of this; biotolerable metals can be coated with bioactive ceramics. Calcium phosphate-based ceramics are known to chemically bind to bone tissues, but their mechanically resistance are not enough. A thin layer HAP has been accepted as a bioactive coating to enhance the corrosion resistance of metallic implants. Furthermore, coating layer supply bone growth and rapid fixation. There are different kinds of methods to produce HAP coatings. Among these electrochemical method used to deposit calcium phosphate coatings on metal substrates is an attractive process because of easy application, low process temperature, ability to deposit uniform coatings on bodies of complex shape and easy control of deposit thickness. In this study, characterization of coated HAP and CaP layers on CoCrMo by electrochemical deposition realized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), X-Ray diffractometer, optic microscope and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR).
