Abstract (EN)
In this study, CO laser theory has been investigated and the operation principles of the high-power CO lasers have been reviewed. For this purpose, the vibration and rotation and electronic energy levels of the CO molecule are examined by quantum mechanical methods. The vibrational- rotational and electronic spectrum is examined and selection rules for transition are determined. Excitation mechanisms that produced population inversion in CO laser are explained. As a result of this review, it is found that high- power CO lasers can be produced at very low temperatures by means of electrical discharge. The electrical-optical configurations of the Electrical-discharge CO lasers and their laser performance have been presented.
