Abstract (EN)
Many plants collected from the nature have been used for centuries for the treatment of diseases or daily health complaints in our country as well as all over the world. It is known that the herbaceous (Capsella bursa-pastoris) plant, which is frequently seen in our country and the city, Duzce, has been used by the public for many years, especially for the treatment of women's diseases and their symptoms. Today, Capsella bursa-pastoris plant extract has been commonly used among the people either alone or with the combination of some plants because of its effects on controlling long term bleeding results from endometrial hyperplasia. However, there are no sufficient studies about the impacts of this plant on the sex hormones, which have the most important role in the emergence of mentioned effects, or whether these hormones have any roles in healing effects of the plant. Although Capsella bursa-pastoris is recommended to be used for the treatments of menorrhagia and metrorrhagia, as well as amenorrhea, oligomenorrhea and dysmenorrhea, the literature is lack of studies which investigate the relationship between the plant and sex hormones (estradiol, FSH, LH, progesterone, oxytocin, prolactin, testosterone…). For this reason, our study is planned to complete the gap. In this study, in order to investigate the effects of Capsella bursa pastoris on sex hormones, hormonal changes that occur as a result of giving Capsella bursa pastoris plant extract to female rats have been investigated. In this way, it was aimed to establish the preclinical studies for Capsella bursa pastoris. In the first step of this research, the aqueous and hydroalcoholic extract of the Capsella bursa-pastoris extract is given to three separate groups for 1 week with gavage. Administering of doses: For the rat group of Capsella bursa-pastoris receiving an aqueous extract, in doses of 1.07g / 100g, 2.68g / 100g, 5.35g / 100g; The rat group that received the hydroalcoholic extract of Capsella bursa-pastoris was given at 1.05 g / 100g, 2.63 g / 100g, 5.25 g / 100 g. Then, blood samples from female rats are taken to see if the extract has any effects on sex hormones. The collected blood samples were analyzed via biochemical immunochemiluminescence methods.
