Abstract (EN)
Education is the only fack that dosen't change and allows individuals get into the changing world order in the best way in the age of connunication mel ive, it's seen that the most important part in individuals education is that they can Express themselves in the best may. Individualss expressing themelves in the best may depends on the family lives they were born in and then the vocabulary teaching subjected to the edvcational life they have individuals who have enough vocabulary feel the details of life deeply and communicate with the life in a beter way. Another force which affects the present-day word in every sense is technology. As the technology influences every field with a dizzying speed, education system has it's share from the effect of technology, as well . Children, raised under the light of this force, carry out severel activities of their lives by utilizing the technological staffs . They use technology in almost all fields such as communication, education, entertainment etc, and they get great pleasure from that. From the eyes of the technology age children, the expected level of interest in education will not be able to be established with children by using traditianal teaching methods of traditianal education system. Even if their interests come into being, it won't be long lasting or it will get harder to provide teaching entertainingly . Nowadays. It is aimed to reveal different teaching methods whickhus will give anewimpulse to education system, will awake our students interests, will be fed by technology and will make teaching entertaining . The aim of this study reveals itself right here. In the age of communication and technology,it is aimed to teach new vocabularies by showingmovies as a method which will meet the expectations of our students more, will enable them to gain the skill of expressing themselves in context, will make teaching entertaining the method of watching movies which is also a hobby that students enjoy doing, will open an entertaining door relating to new vocabularies, as well . Thus, a new method regarding teaching vocabulary will take place. It will be ensued that students who improve their vocabulary entertainingly will be educated as individuals who have beter communication skills. Within this scope, the implementation of this research was done in a state school in Bahcelievler, Istanbul. There were 110 students at the 6th grade that were chosen randomly. In this study, the pretest-posttest design was used. A Turkish and a non-Turkish animated movies were selected and they were going to be watched by 3 experts and 25 students (a peer group). The experts and the students determined the unknown words beforehand. From that pool, lists that contain 30 common words were specified. The same process steps were used for the both movies. Word lists were formed as word processing tests and were submitted to 55 students as experimentaland 55 students as a control group. By means of these tests, all of the students were asked to express the meaning of the unknown words to find out whether they can or cannot. After 7 days, the experimental group watched the movies but the control group did not. After another 7 days, the groups took the word processing test for the last time. After 14 days, target words in a different forms of questionsas combined final test were asked to both groups. The data obtained by using SPSS-21 statistics program and definitions by students regarding word/word groups were interpreted with quantitative evaluation through the eyes of researcher.
