The effects of some characteristics of mothers with cancer child on health problems, healthy life behavior and quality of life

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of some characteristics of mothers with children on health problems, healthy lifestyle behaviors and quality of life. The type of the study was descriptive and the sample consisted of 150 mothers who were treated in the pediatric oncology clinic of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Department of Istanbul University Oncology Institute. The sample consist of 150 mothers who have been caring for at least 3 months, who can read and write, who speak Turkish, who have no visual and hearing disabilities, and who have completed the age of 18 and volunteered to participate in the study.It was determined that 90.7% (n = 136) of the mothers who participated in the study had fatigue and 1.3% (n = 2) had alcohol problems. The total score of the short symptom inventory was 53.14 ± 27.68, the highest score was ,7 Depression "16.72 ± 9.26 and the lowest score was 4 Hostility" 6.34 ± 4.04. The total score of the Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale was 134.07 ± 25.25, the highest score of the sub-dimensions was 29.20 ± 4.66 for evi spiritual development, and the lowest score was 12.96 ± 4.58 for "Physical activity". was determined. The total score of the Quality of Life Scale was 207.10 ± 23.78, the highest score was 96.54 ± 15.04 for the "psychological health problem, and the lowest score was ,8 Physical health problem" for the "psychological health problem" was 22.84 ± 5.32. There was a positive, moderate and significant relationship between healthy lifestyle behaviors scale total scores and quality of life scale total scores of the mothers. It was seen that mothers with children with cancer had physical, psychological health problems and healthy lifestyle behaviors and quality of life were affected after diagnosis.
