With regard to the main principles of children's literature evaluation of Memduh Şevket Esendal's stories according to the students' view

This research was carried out in order to evaluate the stories of Memduh Şevket Esendal in terms of the basic principles of children's literature from the student's viewpoint. In the study, 35 secondary school second grade students from the second stage were interviewed and the results obtained from the interview were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The study was carried out with students who were in the 7th and 8th grades of primary education in the 2016-2017 academic year in Yavuz Selim Secondary School, located in the Dulkadiroğlu district of Kahramanmaraş province, using a semi-structured interview form. In order to answer the questions asked about 12 stories by Memduh Şevket Esendal which were determined by expert opinion, the students were asked to read the stories first; then interviewed face to face about the stories; questions about the basic principles of children's literature and it was attempted to determine from the students' viewpoint whether the stories corresponded to the mentioned principles. As a result of the research, the stories of Memduh Şevket Esendal were generally found to be appropriate to the level of second graders, based on the basic principles of children's literature and can taught to students.
