Investigation of the effects of parental attitudes and attachment styles on the mood profile of children living in the children's homes site INTRODUCTION AND AIM: Attachment is one of the definitions that affect the individual starting from infancy to the end of life and directing the life. It is a known fact that attachment problems depend on the parent (such as attitudes and characteristics), the child and the care environment (such as family or separate living-child homes). This study was carried out to examine the reflections of parental attitudes and attachment styles on mood profiles in children living in children's homes and allowed to meet their parents. METHOD AND MATERIAL: This descriptive and cross-sectional research was carried out between 01.10.2019 and 29.02.2020 with 70 children living in the Çayırova, İzmit and Gölcük children's homes site in Kocaeli. Data was collected with ; "Interview Form", "Perceived Parental Relationship Scale", "Three Dimensional Attachment Styles Scale" and "Positive and Negative Experience Scale for Adolescents". The data were evaluated by independent T test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation tests. All test results were evaluated at the level of 0.05 significance. FINDINGS: In the research, there was a positive and normal level correlation between secure attachment positive experience. There was a positive and weak level correlation between authoritarian mother, authoritarian father and indifferent father attitudes and avoidant attachment. There was a positive and weakly significant relationship between anxious attachment and negative life . CONCLUSION: In this study, it has been determined that the children who stay in the children's houses site are away from a consistent and foster family environment, which paves the way for various psychiatric disorders. It has been concluded that self-perception may be negative, participants who have understanding and sensitive parents have more positive self-perceptions, good relationships with parents contribute to the formation of safe attachment, and non-sensitive parents lead to anxious and avoided attachment characteristics.
