Children's rights and its application at local level: Case study for İzmir

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to examine the applicability of children's rights in İzmir province. First of all, the concept of rights has been studied and the historical development of human rights has been studied in the historical process. The understanding of rights raised by the participation of children in the labor force especially with the Industrial Revolution has been put forward by international documents issued on this subject. The study examines children's rights on three basis: Rights of working children, rights of children dragged into crime, and rights of children who have been abused. For this, the family is a central management unit, depending on the Labor and Social Services Ministry and Child Support Centers, local government units, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, depending on Children and installed two civil society together with Youth Centers Turkey Reautonomy Foundation and Koruncuk Foundation was interviewed. The study was prepared with a semistructured interview technique based on literature research. During the field study, the number of institutions to be interviewed was limited to four, and the principles on which children's rights are based in İzmir province were investigated.
