Abstract (EN)

The subject of ?Creating Character in Child Books? is what kind ofroad must be followed by the artist while the characters are created inillsutrations of child books. To create a character while becoming related withthis subject is an essay of ?Keloğlan Character? by scrutinizing famous talecharacters.Investigation comprised from three chapters. In the first chapter; whilethe illustration art is defined, phases in the development process are taken up.The evaulation and function of the illustration at the written sources are givenin this chapter.In the second chapter, the defination of Child Books, the interest of 0-6year old children to books inside the subject ?Child and Book Relation?, inadditon to this; the interest of 7-11 year old children to books are mentioned.Afterwards, evaulation of illustrated child books in the world and Turkey arealso taken up inside the subject of evaluation of Child Books. At the end of thischapter, relation between the illustration and child books are emphasized.In the third chapter, answer of the question ?what is character inCharacter Subject? is tried to find. However; famous characters areinvestigated in two chapters as local and foreign ones and some criticism aremade for the characters which are illustrated by different illustration artists.After this, it?s touched on the details of character specialties which can beguide for the illustration artist in the character creation chapter. In the chapter?Samples and Techniques of Character Creation by visual angle?, charactersketch stage is mentioned from the selection of set, technique and colour to thewhole selection of composition. In this sense, functions of designers andrequirements of original illustration characters are determined. In the followingchapter, the aim of investigation includes the creation stage of ?KeloğlanCharacter? for ?Keloğlan Tales? in the direction of ?To create characters inillustration of child books?. ?Keloğlan character? is illustrated in derenceto the specialities of investigation which is most delibrated.
