Determination of knowledge levels with traditional practices about diarrhea of women having children receiving treatment for diarrhea

Aim: This study was done in order to determine the knowledge level of 0-6 years child mothers about diarrhea and traditional methods which were done by mothers at home. Materials and Methods: The socio-demographıc data form, which was done by researcher through literature information and the data form which consist traditional application with knowledge level of mothers about diarrhea, which was prcapered by comments of doctors,were used as data collection tool. This study, which was done both ıllustrator and cross-sectional type,was carried out between 1 August 2014 and 30 October 2014 in child department of Manisa Moris Şinasi Hospital. The datas which were taken by surveys which were asked 150 0-6 years child mothers whose children stayed in hospital in that period,were analyzed with SPSS 15.0. Results: The average age of mothers which were resented in research was 28.01(min: 17, max: 45) . The male child pecentage was 55.3% and female child is 44.7%. The 82.7%of child had diarrhea of least one time in a month and 46.7%of mothers brought their children to hospital in the first day of diarrhea. The 46.7%of mothers feed their children only with human milk in first six months and 66%of mother tonk information from medical staff. 13.3%of mothers indicated that they didn't have any ıdea about the treatment of children at home and 80%of mothers also indicated that they hadn't heard anything about ORS before. İt was found that. The most effective parameter on knowledge of ORS was the education level of mothers. Conclusion: It was found that 50.7%of mothers didn't know the treatment of diarrhea at home and had imperfect information about it in our research.
