Abstract (EN)

Evaluation Of The Relationship Between Vitamin D Levels And Electrocardiography Parameters In Children AIM: In our study, we evaluated the relationship between serum 25(OH)D levels and parameters that can be used to predict atrial and ventricular arrhythmias in ECG. MATERIALS AND METHODS: ECG was taken from 153 healthy children who applied to Sakarya Training and Research Hospital between 01.10.2021 and 01.11.2022, who had no history of acute or chronic disease and whose serum 25(OH)D levels were checked. Heart rate in ECGs, Pw, Pmax, Pmin, Pdis, QRS, QTmax, QTmin, QT, QTdis, QTcmax, QTcmin, QTc, QTcdis, Tp-e max, Tp-e min, Tp-e, Tp edis, Tp-e/QT, Tpe/QTc parameters were calculated. The relationship between serum 25(OH)D levels and ECG parameters was evaluated. RESULTS: Of the children included in the study; there were 85 children with 25(OH)D levels below 20 ng/ml, and 65 children above 20 ng/ml. Vitamin D levels in girls were significantly lower than in boys. The Pmax, Pw, Pdis, QTmax, QTc, QTcdis, Tp-e, Tp-edis, Tp-e/QT, Tpe/QTc parameters of the group with low vitamin D levels were significantly higher than the group with normal vitamin D levels. There was a negative correlation between vitamin D levels and Pw, QTdis and QTcmax parameters. It was found that increased parathormone was an independent risk factor for prolongation of QT parameter, and decreased 25(OH)D was an independent risk factor for prolongation of Pw and QTcmax parameters. CONCLUSION: Our study found that vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency may cause an increase in the parameters used to predict atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. However, more studies are needed to show which serum vitamin D levels values may be protective for the cardiovascular system. Keywords: Vitamin D, ECG parameters, arrhythmia
