Abstract (EN)

Children need certain social skills to interact effectively in social environments, develop healthy relationships, and communicate in a socially acceptable manner. These skills enable individuals to understand the emotions and thoughts of others, while regulating their own emotional responses appropriately during interactions. Social skills not only encompass a person's ability to express themselves, but also their capacity to evaluate situations from others' perspectives, empathize, and behave according to societal norms. Children begin acquiring these skills at an early age, with experiences in the preschool years further enhancing their development. School, as the second most important social environment after the family, plays a critical role in the learning and development of social skills. These skills support children in establishing healthy relationships at both individual and societal levels, while also fostering their academic success and emotional development. The development of social skills at an early age is crucial not only for individual growth but also for social acceptance and the ability to adapt within society. Research shows that individuals who have strengthened their social skills during childhood perform better academically, have lower crime rates, and enjoy better mental health in adolescence and adulthood. Early acquisition of these skills makes it easier for children to form healthier interpersonal relationships and maintain emotional balance. In contrast, children with underdeveloped social skills may face difficulties in interpersonal interactions, emotional and behavioral problems, academic failures, and social maladjustment later in life. Deficiencies in social interaction during early childhood can have a decisive impact on a child's psychological well-being, academic achievements, and social relationships as they grow. Studies have found that low levels of social interaction during childhood are a more reliable predictor of future psychological health and success than IQ scores, grades, and performance on achievement tests. Therefore, developing social skills in early childhood significantly enhances an individual's ability to cope with challenges throughout their life. The development of social skills is of great importance not only at the individual level but also for the overall harmony of society. The maintenance of social order relies on the ability of individuals to communicate effectively with one another, empathize, and develop understanding, all of which are underpinned by social skills. Additionally, teaching these skills in educational institutions and other social settings is essential for promoting social peace and cohesion. Finally, numerous studies have demonstrated the strong impact of music education on children's social skills. Music helps children learn to work together in groups, empathize, and share their thoughts and emotions. Moreover, music education stands out as a tool that encourages social interaction and helps individuals form healthier relationships with others. Therefore, the role of music education in the development of children's social skills is significant not only in artistic terms but also in promoting social development.
