Abstract (EN)

Children have been exposed to sexual, physical and psychological violence, death, economic exploitation and other forms of abuse from ancient times to the present. There may be physical, sexual and emotional traumas that affect the person in many ways and cause psychological scars, as well as physical, sexual and emotional neglect. The traumatic experiences in childhood pose a risk for the disorders that occur in the future. In this study, the relationship between childhood traumatic experience and resilience was examined on adult groups with different demographic characteristics. In the study, positive correlation coefficients were found between Childhood Trauma sub-dimensions (Emotional Abuse and Emotional Neglect, Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse). From the sub-dimensions of the Resilience Scale; Negative correlation coefficients were found between Social Efficiency-Self-Perception sub-dimensions (as people trust themselves, gain confidence in their abilities, and develop a positive perspective, extroversion, friendship-building flexibility decreases). A positive correlational relationship was found between the other sub-dimensions (Social Competence, Family Cohesion, Social Resources, Structural Style, Self-Perception). A negative correlation was found between Emotional Abuse, Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse sub-dimensions and Future Perception, Structural Style, Social Competence, Family Cohesion, Self-Perception and Social Resources sub-dimensions. These findings were discussed in line with the hypotheses of the research.
