Comparison of the relationship between childhood traumas and attitudes about love, relationship satisfaction and sexual functions between patients with euthymic depression and healthy volunteers

Aim : In our study, it was aimed to compare childhood traumas, attitudes towards love, relationship satisfaction and sexual functions in depressive disorder patients and healthy volunteers. Method : 100 patients with depressive disorder in the euthymic period and 100 healthy volunteers were included in the study. Hamilton Depression Scale and UKU Side Effect Rating Scale were applied to the depressive disorder group. In addition, sociodemographic data form, SCID-1, "Childhood Trauma Scale", "Love Attitudes Scale (short form)", "Relationship Satisfaction Scale" and "Arizona Sexual Experiences Scale" were administered to all participants. Results : In our study, relationship satisfaction; In the patient group, it was concluded that it decreased in those aged >35 years and in women, and as the relationship satisfaction increased, Passionate love and Friendly love were experienced more and sexual dysfunctions decreased. It has been determined that the relationship satisfaction of those who have a "love" partnership is higher than those who have a "logical" partnership. It was concluded that women who made a "logical" partnership had more sexual dysfunction than those who were in "love" relationships. In our study, it was determined that the Passionate Love and Friendly Love subscale scores were lower in the depressive disorder group than in the control group. It was determined that the rational love subscale scores were higher in arranged marriages in both the control group and the depressive disorder group. Emotional abuse, Sexual abuse and Physical abuse were found to be higher in the depressive disorder group, and Emotional Neglect was found to be higher in the control group. In the female depressive disorder group, a positive relationship was found between emotional abuse and sexual dysfunction. It was determined that those who experienced Passionate love and Friendly love in the female patient group had less sexual dysfunction. Conclusion : As a result, it can be said that there is a decrease in relationship satisfaction, more history of abuse and differences in attitudes towards love in patients with depressive disorder. It is thought that the findings obtained are very important and will contribute to the literature. We recommend conducting prospective studies with larger samples.
