GIS based multi-criteria decision analysis for site selection of university campus

The choice of location depends on the purpose of use of an institution, the geological structure of the area where it will be located, the social life conditions of the current citizen living around it, the infrastructure, superstructure, transportation, economic situation, etc. of the area to be preferred.There are made depending on many criteria. In this case, a complex problem arises as a result of many criteria, sub-criteria options being excessive and indirectly or directly interacting and relation with each other. With the help of spatial decision support systems, complex problems based on space are easily solved by using multi-criteria decision-making methods most suitable for the target to be achieved and the structure of the problem, and the most appropriate choices are made by evaluating the options, analyzing and modeling them. With the development and necessities of the age, the development of university campuses outside the city and their existence with a campus structure of its own has accelerated the process. University design process; It includes many important steps such as determining the objectives well, making appropriate site selection decisions, determining the general character and size of the university, organizing the organizational structure and making programs that will form the basis for architectural design through all these, making basic design decisions and determining the development, qualifications and criteria. With this study, the place and importance of determining the expand and development opportunities from the pre-programming stage and supporting them with the right settlement system and design criteria in the campus design process so that the university campuses, which are expected to serve the society in the very long term, can fulfill their duties in the best way, have been tried to be stated. In this context, the Analytic Network Process method, one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods, was used to determine the installation area of the Konya Technical University Campus campus, and the analyzes were compared with the maps.
