Development of a database for the cultural and archaeological assets of Osmaniye using geographical information systems

In this study, information from 152 registered and 34 unregistered Culturaland archaeologically important assets in Osmaniye had been collected and digitisedusing GIS in order to create the Osmaniye Cultural Assets information systems.Present agricultural and land use information were also cross analysed with thecultural assets in order to establish land use-archaeological relationships.Informationon location, present use and state of the Cultural Assets were also included into theinformation system with historical data which could be used by researchers fromother disciplines.The Cultural Assets were classified and information on location( how to get there ) date of construction and other historical information with presentcondition and use were included into the database.Key words: Map, Cultural Asset, GIS
