Abstract (EN)

Geographical information systems consist of processes for the collection, processing and submission to end user of geographical data. Given the fact that most of the current day information includes spatial data, the importance of the geographical information systems can be better understood. As a result of technological developments, data is being stored in the electronic form and new needs emerge with increase of data. The first of these emerging needs is visualization of data. Within this context, the data has been first visualized in two dimensional formats and with the development in the computer technologies three dimensional visualization has been introduced. For the three dimensional visualization of data, especially the virtual globe software which has entered into service in mid 2000?s has been widely used. Nowadays, destination data and route planning can easily be done via this virtual globe software. Virtual globe software which has been an essential part of our life not only provide and visualize data but also make it possible to do some analyses. In this dissertation, terrain analysis for the purpose of determination of transit areas for military and civilian vehicles has been conducted. The study aimed to identify factors effecting the vehicle movement on the terrain and some rules has been established within fuzzy logic framework which helps to modeling of the uncertainties. The developed terrain analysis application has been designed to work on the virtual globe software.
