Abstract (EN)

In this study it is researched that if geographical differences affect the readiness level of students having science lesson.The research was held in four different public schools in Osmaniye, Ardahan and Kocaeli cities in the spring term of school year 2007-2008. 51 students from Osmaniye, 90 students from Ardahan and 72 students from Gebze in Kocaeli participated in the research.Each student was chosen from different geographical areas to simultaneously have students in preceding cities take an achievement test in sience lesson.The achievement test was about `Living beings and their interactions with wild life?. The test had been taken before this subject was covered in the classroom.The results of success test are analysed by the programme of SPSS statistics and it is reached that the chosen geographical environment makes meaningful difference in the results of the success test. It is determined that the meaningful difference is in favour of the school in the province of Osmaniye which includes rich kind of plant and animal. When the provinces are lined up according to the points of success, it is determined that the first degree is the province of Osmaniye, the second degree is the district of Gebze, and the third degree is the province of Ardahan.
