Adequacy of measuring and evaluation of geography teachers

This study is a research that aims to determine adequacy of Measuring andEvaluation of Geography Teachers, who works for high schools.Research was performed with 87 Geography Teachers in High Schools in thetowns of Ankara including Altındağ, Çankaya, Keçiören, Mamak, Sincan, Yenimahalle,Etimesgut in 2005/ 2006 Education Term. Means that have been used for this research area poll with 15 items and an "Evaluation Of Measuring and Evaluation Adequacy Form"with 41 items. Datas, which were got, have been analyzed by SPSS programme. Teachershave been tested with T test for comparing adequacy of graduate teachers from EducationFaculties and the other Faculties, for comparing men and women's measuring andevaluation adequacies, for comparing teachers' adequacies who have joined a course andwho have not joined a course, concerned with measuring and evaluation, for comparingteachers' adequacies who follow publications and who doın't follow publications, forcomparing teachers' adequacies who have problems in preparing, applying and evaluatingexaminations and who have not problems with these subjects and variance analyze forcomparing teachers' adequacies according to seniority. Frequency and percentage are usedfor analyzing the other datas.According to findings;There isn't a meaningful difference about measuring adequacy between graduate•of Education Faculties and the other Faculties%69 of teachers have found inadequate measuring and evaluation lessons that they got•in University% 71.3 of teachers who have joined to this poll prefer uing examinations including•different question types together.% 47.1 of teachers do the examinations for being a foundation to pass and fail class of•students, %51.7 of teachers do the examinations for revealing which behaviours havebeen learned and which behaviours have not been learned from the behaviours tharhave been planned to learn in the end od every unit.The measuring means are high about reliability, currency, usage that the geography•teachers use, who have joined to poll.Teachers do evaluation aimed at shape and educate and aimed at appraise instead of•aiming at recognising and putting.Teachers don't do dependent evaluation while doing absolute evaluation, during•evaluation process.At the end of tis research, measuring and evaluation adequacy of GeographyTeachers that have been applied to this poll, has been found high as a result of workingseniority teachers in the center and eliminating deficiency about measuring and evaluationin the life of occupation.
