Abstract (EN)
The concept of tyranny of the majority points out that an unlimited, absolute majority rule has the danger of violating the rights and freedoms of minorities and argues that the majority rule is to be restricted as all other sovereignties. This thesis first sought to examine which concepts and theories have legitimized an unlimited, absolute majority rule and thus created favorable conditions for the tyranny of the majority. Another aim of the thesis is to evaluate the arguments on how to prevent the majority tyranny and to analyze what are the institutions that can prevent the majority from acting tyrannical over the minority. The criticisms about the tyranny of the majority and the fairness of these criticisms are among the issues examined in this thesis.
