Abstract (EN)
It is known that more than 90% area of our country is located over the earthquake zones and great majority of our population is living on those regions. Many major earthquakes cause serious loss of life and property. The impact of the earthquakes on existing buildings which cause loss of life and property in our country has made the reliability of the structures questionable hence accelerated the works required to determine the earthquake performance of these structures. In this study, the impact of variation on the ratio of RC shear walls has been examined over the seismic performance of RC structures. For this purpose, two different 20 storey high structures are modelled, shear wall-frame structure and frame structure with nonlinear time history method which is one of the nonlinear analysis methods defined in Turkish Earthquake Code 2007(TEC 2007), Chapter 7 and nonlinear dynamic time history analysis has been made by using SAP2000 finite elements program. In accordance with the results of each structure, the displacement values, damage conditions are reviewed and checked if earthquake performance values of the structure has been maintained. It is seen that the amount of plastic rotation which causes damage to the columns in the multi-storey RC shearwall-frame under the effect of seismic forces is decreased. At the same time, it is determined that the number of articulation in the columns are decreased. In this way, it has been seen that the shear wall system plays an important role in achieving the targeted performance level in the structure.
