Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the static and dynamic structural response of a high-rise RC building constructed on a pile foundation were investigated under the assumption of soil-foundation-structure interaction. For this purpose some experimental and theoretical studies have been carried out. In experimental studies, it is aimed to determine the behavior of piles subjected to earthquake loading. For this purpose, lateral force-displacement behavior of concrete filled steel profile piles was obtained in a field located on the edge of the İzmir Bay. Using behavioral parameters, a scaled prototype model building was designed. Finite element micro model of the designed building was constituted under the assumption of "fixed base" and "soil-foundation-strcuture interaction". Equivalent earthquake, linear response spectrum and linear time history analyses were performed for each "fixed base" and "soil-foundation-structure interaction" finite element models. In the first section, brief information is given about the thesis study, "soil-foundation-structure interaction" and "fixed base" assumptions. In the second section, previous studies on soil-foundation-structure interaction or soil-structure interaction is mentioned. In the third section, information is given about soil-foundation-structure interaction and modelling of soil-foundation-structure interaction. In the fourth section, experimental studies performed in the field and the results obtained from these applications are given. In the fifth section, the structural parameters of the global system consisting of soil, pile, foundation and RC building are explained. In the sixth section, general evaluations and comparisons of experimental and theoretical results are presented. In the last section, the results obtained from theoretical and experimental studies for each "fixed base" and "soil-foundation-structure interaction" assumptions are comperatively presented. As a conclusion, the importance of soil-foundation-structure interaction analysis of piled RC buildings has been assessed.
