ABSTRACT MSc THESIS THREE-DIMENSIONAL DYNAMIC ANALYSIS FOR MULTI-STOREY STRUCTURES GULTEKIN AKTAŞ DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING INSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES UNIVERSITY OF ÇUKUROVA Supervisor : Assoc. Hakkı ÇA?ATAY In general, the locations of mass and shear centers of buildings alter along their height. Moreover, the mass and shear centers at floor levels do not coincide in general. This situation causes the buildings to undergo torsional deformations during the earthquakes. In this study three dimensional dynamic "time history" analysis, the earthquake and static behaviors of shear buildings are studied by taking into account torsional effects and a general computer program is prepared for this purpose by employing rigid diaphragm modeling. The computer program is compared with other existent stuructural analysis softwares, such as SAP90, and it is brought about that the new program has some advantages over the others. Key Words : Three-Dimensional Dynamic Analysis, Spectrum Analysis, Time History Analysis, Rigid Diaphragm Modelling, Mode Superposition Technique
