Multi-criteria decision making and geographic information system hybrid solution approach: Siirt province solar energy application

In this thesis, general information about geographical information systems and multi-criteria decision making methods is given. By using these two different disciplines together, a hybrid solution approach is presented and the application of the two methods is realized with this approach. Geographical information systems analysis can also use non-geographical data due to its information system structure. In this way, it creates a basis for joint studies with different disciplines. Since it is seen that there is a need for a hybrid solution approach in order to increase joint studies, to be used with different disciplines and to provide clearer solutions to real life problems, a hybrid solution approach is presented. The application of the hybrid solution approach is in the field of solar energy systems, which is the most emphasized renewable energy field in today's world. In existing geographic information systems studies, the problem of site selection, which is frequently performed, is determined as solar power plant installation site selection. However, geographic information systems analysis of the necessary investments may be insufficient by considering the costs in terms of increasing energy demand and the investments required to meet the consumption. Therefore, it has been seen that multi-criteria decision making methods are needed as a different discipline to calculate these costs. In this way, application steps are shown by using the hybrid solution approach presented.
