Choosing the best supplier for the textile industry with multi-criteria decision making techniques and application of a software

The ability of companies to show high performance in the sector they operate in does not depend only on the performance of the company itself. The success of the suppliers that the firms work with directly affects the performance of the company. For this reason, supplier selection should be given importance in order to achieve competitive advantage, to be successful and to achieve sustainable success. Companies, should work with the right suppliers to produce their products according to the demands and needs of the customers. In the process of supplier selection, suppliers are selected according to the requirements of the customers and according to the criterion of the company's purchasing strategy. Multi-criteria decision making techniques developed in this sense are important for choosing the right suppliers. In this study, the importance of the supplier selection criteria in the textile sector and the data taken from the purchasing specialists working in the firms operating in the textile sector in the province of Istanbul have been determined. Fourteen subcriteria and three suppliers of these criteria have been identified with the main criteria of quality, price, delivery, management and service, and with the company experts who are choosing the most suitable supplier for a company operating in the textile sector. With the data obtained for the criteria and suppliers, the most suitable supplier for the company was tried to be determined by obtaining a consensus single ranking by using the Borda count method of the orders obtained from the methods of AHP, TOPSIS and VIKOR. The weights for the criteria were obtained by the AHP method. The company has developed a user-friendly software with a simple interface design in which the methods used to work to speed up the supplier selection process and minimize errors in the selection process are minimized.
