Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, with multi criteria decision making techniques the measurement and comparison of financial performances of the sectors that take place in Turkish economy is studied. After stating definition and properties of concepts of decision making and multiple criteria decision making, the methods used in this study were introduced. In order to assess and compare financial performances of sectors, Entropy, Topsis, Maut, Vikor, Compromise Programming and Copeland methods were used.Financial performance, which is evaluated by financial, operational and market performance ratios, shows how a company uses its assets to get income and money. In this thesis, among financial analysis methods, the most commonly used one, ratio analysis was used. Such an analysis technique helps a company in making decisions by evaluating company?s past and current financial condition by associating some values in balance sheet or balance sheet and income statement or some values in any other financial table. In the analysis, in which financial performance ratios were used as the criteria, performance values of sectors are taken from database of Türkiye Cumhuriyet Merkez Bankası (Central Bank of The Turkish Republic). With these data, both annual performances of manufacture and service sectors are compared, and performances of sectors are compared and evaluated among themselves by years. The thesis is concluded with results of evaluation and new study areas.KeyWords: Multicriteria decisionmaking, financial performance, ratio analysis, performance measurement, Entropy, Topsis, Maut, Vikor, Compromise Programming, Copeland method
