Abstract (EN)
Keywords: Natural Disasters, Multiple Disaster Risk Analysis, Disaster Questionnaire, Disaster awareness in Akyazı. As in the past, Turkey has often encountered and will encounter natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, avalanches, fires, landslides. Therefore, minimizing economic losses as well as the loss of life and property caused by disasters can only be realized by establishing an effective and sustainable disaster and risk management system. For that intention it is strived for to establish a disaster and risk management system for settlements by reviewing ongoing disaster and risk management studies in the context of natural disasters occurring in both Turkey and in the world, taking into account technologies being developed and making suggestions intended for the requirements. As a case study, Akyazı town of Sakarya province is selected for implementing Multiple Disaster Risk Management modeling. For this purpose, a Disaster Preparedness and Awareness Questionnaire for household of Akyazı town was conducted between January 2019 and March 2019. A questionnaire consisting of 25 questions was prepared and implemented for 144 persons, 80 of which are men. It is obtained that 25 per cent of the population of the town has been directly exposed to a disaster, while a relative of 6 per cent of those who have not been directly exposed to a disaster has been exposed to a disaster. It was determined that earthquakes took the first place with 70 per cent among the directly exposed disaster types and flood disasters followed the earthquake disasters with 11 per cent. It is determined that the higher the educations level the higher the disaster consciousness and 70 per cent of the participants considering themselves unready for disasters.
