Analysis of user centered, participant design approaches that can be an alternative to standardization in multiple housing

Today, with the increase in population, the demand for housing has increased in order to meet the basic need of people for housing. With this demand, the number of residences is also increasing. Housing construction, which started with tents in the early times, has formed housing types as single or two-storey detached structures according to the local building materials used in the regions together with the settled life. In the later periods, it is possible to see multi-storey structures with the increasing population. When we come to the 2000s, it is seen that housing groups are now located in cities in the form of multi-storey and complexes. In cities with a high population density, when new constructions are evaluated within the field of architecture, it creates design problems in residences. Plan typologies made by ignoring user needs repeat themselves in different contexts. In this study, it has been evaluated by taking the user as a reference and by analyzing the architectural design approaches that can be made for multiple residences, and the results have been obtained. In particular, starting from the spatial setup analysis in multiple residences, how the design approaches are reflected in the housing was examined with comparative analyzes between the examples of the period when the concept of participation emerged and the current housing examples.
