Abstract (EN)

This study on comparative analysis of Mike Hammer in Turkish ?Translation? concentrates on the translations and pseudotranslations of Mike Hammer published in Turkish polysystem after 1940. This study, which is based on the assertion that the translations done at different times by different translators and published by different publishing houses can bear similarities and discrepancies between each other, aims to define the policies adopted by the translators as the correspondents of the notion of ?agency? as well as the policies adopted by the publishing houses as the correspondents of the notion of ?institution? in this study. By analyzing Mike Hammer pseudotranslations within the scope of this thesis, it is aimed to offer insight concerning the cases in which pseudotranslations can function as a ?translation?. Analyzing Mike Hammer pseudotranslations marking the period between the years 1940 and 1960 when the concepts of translation and pseudotranslation were overlapping with each other provides information concerning the translation strategies of the publishing houses and the translators as well as their perspectives towards translation.
