Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT CONSTRUCTION OF A THERHOLUMINESCENCE READOUT INSTRUMENT 02TAS Mustafa M.S. In Physics Engineering Supervisor: Assoc.Prof.Dr.Ata SELÇUK January, 1998 110 pages In this study, a double beam spectrophotometer system and an electrical furnace was used as a thermo luminescence reader to detect the visible light emitted from a heated themo lumi nescence dosetneter (TLD) material. Samples of TLD material (natural CaFB-17) were placed in the electrical furnace and heated to the desired temperature (about 400 t). The light emitted by TLD samples during heating was detected and measured by a spectrophotometer. An X-Y recorder used to plot data as a function of temperature. The same procedure was applied to other samples which were exposed to different intensity of X-ray radiation. Finally, glow curves, dose response curves and spectrum of the emitted light were obtained from the output of the spectrophotometer and the results are discussed. Keywords: TLD Instrument, spectrophotometer, dosemeter. Ill
