Abstract (EN)

This study investigates how the effects of World War II on Turkey were reflected in the local press. Although Turkey did not directly participate in the war, it nonetheless experienced various indirect consequences, such as economic hardships. To observe how these effects were felt, Çorum Gazetesi was examined as a local newspaper. Using content analysis, issues of the newspaper were analyzed through news articles, opinion columns, advertisements, and announcements. The aim was to reveal the societal mood of the period, the state's strategies of influence, and public reactions. The contents of the newspaper were found to reflect the war's impact on domestic politics, the economy, social solidarity, and religious-national values. The press also functioned as a tool to convey official state policies and to guide the public. Through documentary research methods, the study aimed to explore how local journalism in Çorum interpreted the historical developments of the era.
