Investigation of heavy metals on water, sediment, biological material in Çorum city dams

In this research water, sediment samples are taken from Çomar, Hatap, Yenihayat, Alaca dams being in Çorum city and moss,soil are taken from Yenihayat dam are examined to find concentrations of Cu, Cd, Cr, Fe, Pb and Zn heavy metals in them for drying and raining seasons from dam to dam. In addition, concentrations of heavy metals are compared Yenihayat dam?s water with tap water. Samples are taken in definite periods from the four dams that have different properties. Observed that samples taken from four dams are comply with to TSE and WHO criterions for heavy metals except Cd. Because of Cd passing from soil to water by rainfall, concentration of Cd is higher than standards. Comparison of analyted heavy metal concentrations for tap water to Yenihayat dam?s water are observed that comply with to TSE and WHO criterions. Concentration of analyted heavy metals is lower than Yenihayat dam?s water. It shows that conventional water treatment process is effective to reduce heavy metal concentrations determine.
