Political life in Çorum(1923-1945)

The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects of the single party government era on the Anatolian province of Çorum, as it did on the rest of the country. In this sense, the political developments that took place at the HQ of the single party during the 1923-1945period have been taken as the starting point and their reflections on the province of Çorum have been evaluated. The study materials have been primarily archive documents, newspaper documents. The main research point of the thesis was the nationwide authority of the single party government and its effect on local authoritarian approach. In this sense, the first step was to reveal the assets and financial resources of the party. Following this, next to be revealed were the methods of local organizations, elections, the MPs of the party, and the party conventions, where the wishes and expectations of the nation have been heard and where the party policies have been defined. Another issue to be noted here were the observations and inspections held by the regional inspectors commissioned by the party HQ. The observations and inspections held at Çorum have been addressed in detail under the light shed by archive documents.
