Investigation of the relationship between grief level, coping perception and death anxiety in woman experiencing traumatic loss except for covid-19 disease in the covid-19 period

People can be exposed to traumatic situations throughout their lives. Traumatic experiences can make people feel fear, helplessness and horror. We can say that the Covid-19 epidemic disease period we are in worldwide is also a traumatic event. Individuals may differ in terms of coping with traumatic situations by nature. While some can cope with the effects of these negative and traumatic events, others may not be able to cope with these situations effectively and adequately. Because the losses during the Covid-19 epidemic are sudden and unexpected, people who experience loss may begin to experience traumatic mourning. It is known that post- traumatic recovery is delayed in people who experience traumatic grief and may cause many psychological problems. In our country, there is no study in which traumatic grief and the grief process in people who have lost due to Covid-19 are examined together. The aim of the study; To investigate the relationship between grief level, coping perception and death anxiety in adults who experienced traumatic loss other than Covid-19 during the Covid-19 period. For this purpose, as of March 2020, 120 people residing in Istanbul between the ages of 18 and 60 and who lost their relatives due to death 6 months ago participated in the research. "Traumatic Grief Scale", "Perception of Coping with Trauma Scale" and "Death Anxiety Scale" were used in the study.As a result of the research; It was found that traumatic grief did not positively predict death anxiety, the perception of coping with trauma did not predict death anxiety negatively, and the perception of coping with trauma negatively predicted the level of traumatic grief. It is thought that the similarities and differences of how the grieving process progresses in adults who experience traumatic grief during the Covid-19 period and adults who experience loss due to Covid-19 will contribute to the literature. The perception of coping with traumatic events and death anxiety in comparison groups will be examined. It is thought that the results of the study may be beneficial in the creation of preventive and supportive mental programs.
