A research on generations' technology use and lifestyles during covid-19 period: The case of Adana province

Human beings begin to adapt to the environment they live in from the day they are born. Every change in environmental factors has impact on people's lives, positively or negatively. In addition, some of the demographic and psychographic characteristics of people change over time. These changes cause individuals' behavior and consumption patterns to change. In other words, since people live in different years and in different living conditions, the characteristics of each period have an impact on individuals. In this study, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on generations and lifestyles, as well as the technology usage levels of generations during the Covid-19 period, are examined. The data for the research was collected using the survey technique between May 2022 and October 2022. 500 people from Ceyhan district participated in the survey. According to research findings, fear of Covid-19 affects individuals' attitudes towards information and communication technologies, social impact level, anxiety, self-satisfaction, behavioral intention, and well-being levels. While individuals' social impact, anxiety, and self-satisfaction regarding information and communication technologies affect the perceived usefulness and ease of use of these technologies, perceived usefulness and ease of use affect attitudes towards information and communication technologies. On the other hand, attitude appears to affect individuals' behavioral intentions regarding information and communication technologies. Additionally, there are statistically significant differences between generations' lifestyles in various aspects (eating, sleeping, smoking, etc.) during the Covid-19 period. A comparison of the generations before and during the Covid-19 pandemic reveals that there has been a significant change in lifestyles during the period of the pandemic.
