Abstract (EN)
With the outbreak of COVID-19 face-to-face education was suspended on 13 March 2020 in order to keep the epidemic under control, and educational activities were mainly carried out remotely until the beginning of the 2021-2022 academic year in Turkey. In this research, it is aimed to reveal the opinions of teachers about the impact of COVID-19 epidemic on teaching and learning. For this purpose, a total of 537 teachers, including 112 preschool teachers and 425 primary school teachers are involved in the study group of the research, which was carried out in a convergent parallel mixed desing. The data of the study were collected through a questionnaire and semi-strucured interview form developed by the researcher. As a result of the in-depth analysis of quanlitative data and quantitive data, it was concluded that distance education is not as effective as face-to-face education; the physical, evotional and cognitive learning needs of students cannot be met, the physchological well-being of students and teachers is negatively affected due to social isolation, and the work load of teachers increases. In the distance education it has been determined that the inadequacy of safe internet access with the technological infrastructure and equipment, the lack of interest in using technological tools reduce the effectiveness of distance education. Considering the results of the research, suggestions for research and practive were developed.
