Investigation of the relationship between psychological resilience, depression and anxiety levels of psychological support applicants during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract (EN)

The psychological state of individuals during epidemic periods in the world has been a matter of curiosity by researchers. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the world for a long time and has imposed restrictions on individuals in many areas from their business life to their private lives. It is considered important to investigate some psychological variables in these challenging conditions in the lives of individuals. In this study, the anxiety, depression and psychological resilience levels of people during the pandemic process were examined and these psychological states were also evaluated in terms of sociodemographic variables. The research was designed according to the relational survey model and purposive sampling method was used. A total of 379 people, 248 women and 131 men, between the ages of 18-65, who applied to a private psychological counseling center in a medium-sized province in the Central Anatolian region, participated in the research. Beck Anxiety Scale, Burns Depression Scale, Resilience Scale and personal information form were applied to the participants as data collection tools. Independent sample t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the correlation analysis, there was a significant and positive relationship between the scores from the Beck Anxiety Scale and the scores from the Burns Depression Scale. however, a negative relationship was found. In the multiple linear regression model created; It was determined that the depression scale score and the constant term had a statistically significant effect on the resilience scale score. It was determined that the anxiety score did not have a statistically significant effect on the resilience scale score.
