The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the restaurants and hotels sector: An application in BIST

Many countries' economies and sectors have been negatively affected due to the measures taken to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, which was seen in Wuhan, China, and was later declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March 11, 2020. One of the sectors negatively affected is undoubtedly the Restaurants and Hotels sector. In this thesis study, we tried to find an answer to the question of 'Whether their financial structures and Stock Exchange performances were affected due to the Covid-19 Pandemic' of 9 companies in the Restaurants and Hotels sector traded in Borsa Istanbul (BIST). For this purpose, analysis was made using horizontal and ratio analysis methods with the data obtained from the financial statements of the companies between 2018-2023. The data obtained in the ratio analysis were compared and interpreted with the ratios accepted as standard. Keywords: Covid-19 Pandemic, Financial Analysis
