Özet (EN)

In this study, the Effect of an Intervention Program Based on Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBTI) Approach on Self-Handicapping Behavior of Adolescents was investigated. For this purpose, the effectiveness of the program to reduce the level of self-handicapping developed within the scope of the research was examined using an experimental design with pre-test and post-test control groups. Of the 45 students participating in the study, 15 (10 girls, 5 boys) were in the experimental group, 15 (6 girls, 6 boys) in the control group and 15 (10 girls, 5 boys) in the placebo group. The activities of the intervention program based on the SFBT, which lasted six weeks (each session sixty minutes), were applied to the students participating in the experimental group. The Occupational Group Guidance Program (OGGP) was applied to the placebo group for six weeks (each session sixty minutes) and no studies were conducted during the same period with the control group. Self-Handicapping Scale (SHS) was given to the experimental, control and placebo groups as a pre-test, and when the pre-test score measurements were examined, no difference was observed between the groups. Kruskal Wallis H Test was used in the analysis of the data between groups, and the Mann Whitney U test was used in the analysis of the intragroup data. As a result of the analysis, the experimental, control and placebo groups were compared and it was determined that there was no statistical significance between the groups in the posttest analysis. As a result of the follow-up measurements made after six weeks, it was found that there was a decrease in the level of self-handicapping of the adolescents in favor of the experimental group. As a result of in-group analysis, when the experimental group pre-test, post-test and follow-up test scores were taken into account, it was seen that there was a decrease in the self-handicapping levels of the adolescents. Key Words: Self-handicapping, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Adolescents
